The Problem

Alumni of Talent Beyond Boundaries do not have a central hub to access resources that will help them integrate.

The Outcome

Create a Integration Resource Hub so refugees have a place they can go to find such resources and refer back to.

A peek at the solution

Understanding The User

I created user personas for Talent Beyond Boundaries alumni to be able to better understand the thoughts and behaviors of those who would be using the Integration Resource Hub.
I also created a user journey map to detail each step the user takes in answering a question they may have about immigration to better understand how the user experience can be improved.
Through user research, here are the main pain points identified.
1
Confusion
There is so much information out there on immigration laws and services; it can get overwhelming trying to find the right answers and not knowing where to go for information.
2
Poor SEO
Looking up every single question you have about integration and having to filter through results can be exhaustive and time consuming, especially when the search results are not useful and do not relate to the answers you are trying to seek.
3
Low margin of error
Many people who seek refuge in a different country do not have the luxury of time or error when it comes to migration. Any invalid information on a form could make or break successful migration or integration, which is why vetted information needs to be accessible.

Ideation

Talent Beyond Boundaries already had all the content and knew what pages they wanted me to design. I took the content they had and organized a site map to be able to visualize how the website would be structured.

Design Process

Talent Beyond Boundaries wanted to start with creating a website first, but eventually wanted the website to be mobile-friendly. They also said there was a possibly to turn the hub into an app. Therefore, I sketched out some paper wireframes for both a mobile interface and a desktop interface.
I designed four lo-fi wireframes for the original pages Talent Beyond Boundaries had asked me for and prototyped them. I also created a log-in page as a solution to the fact that they only wanted alumni to be able to access this hub.

Next Steps

1
Get Feedback
The Alumni Success Officer is collecting feedback from the Talent Beyond Boundaries board, stakeholders, and alumni which we will implement when iterating on the site.
2
Work On Product With Engineer
I will be offering development support and UXQA to the engineer while he is building the site, overseeing usability and fidelity of designs.
3
Create Mobile Designs
Talent Beyond Boundaries prioritized the desktop site of the Integration Resource Hub, but once that is done we can begin exploring mobile solutions such as an app.
